Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer and many of us celebrate with picnics, parties, weekend getaways and other popular summer activities over the holiday weekend. Food is what ties most of these events together so lets get busy and figure out what to serve!

If you have weekend guests you don’t want to fuss with a complicated breakfast, best solution an oven breakfast that some of the work can be done the night before serving. This recipe for Bacon, Tomato and Cheddar Breakfast Bake with Eggs is perfect for beginning the day whether breakfast or brunch.

Leave lunch up to our Deli team and pick up a couple of The Grillers for lunch, throw them on the grill for a short time and you have an awesome sandwich that you can enjoy between activities.

After activity filled days you should plan on some appetizers. A staple for any of our summer get-togethers is Guacamole. Our recipe for Chunky Guacamole is always a hit, make it fresh right before you are ready to serve.

We recently found this recipe for Killer Artichoke Bread and intend to have this on our appetizer table this weekend!

If you have time the day before you are going to serve, mix up some of these “Fire Crackers” that we are quite fond of (don’t refrigerate).

To keep that spicy theme going bring on the Buffalo Chicken Bites!

For your main course we suggest Pot Roast Sliders, easy to make Pot Roast in a crock pot ahead of time and simple to serve – fair warning these are so delicious there will probably be no leftovers! It isn’t summer without Potato Salad on the table and you won’t find any better than our Homestyle Potato Salad. Best of all you can order from the Deli in a 1 gallon black bowl that is ready to go straight to your table.

If you have a large crowd coming for dinner call us up or go on line to order our buffet-style 50 piece chicken entree, grilled or fried and go put your feet up. We have many other options available in our Family Style Catering brochure also.

Have a safe and Happy Labor Day from all of us at Festival Foods!
